To start with i opened photoshop and created a new layer and named it Blue Orb. With this new layer i made a dark blue faded circle by using the brush tool which was set to a hardness of 0 to make a soft edge look, and added a lighter blue cirlce ontop of that aswell as creating a turquoise and a white one, again with the the soft edge look. The colours i used to make this were web safe colours.
With this shape created i then used the smudge tool with a hardness of 85%, so it would make the smudge longer, and set the hardness to 0 to make the effect of fading. I then used the smudge tool again but on different settings to make to thinner smudges either side of the big smudge.
During the production of my Blue Orb i used a couple of shortcuts such as B for a quick selection of the brush tool, CTRL + Z to undo a mistake and Alt + Delete to fill the foreground colour.
