Simone Legno - Tokidoki

Simone Legno was born on June 16, 1977. He is an Italian artist best known for his very own creation of the tokidoki brand. Simone Legno's designs were influenced by his interests in Japanese and Thier culture.
His portfolio website was listed as one of the top ten websites of the week by The Independant newspaper back in 2003.  This caught the attention of Hard Candy co who is the founder of Pooneh Mohajer and her husband Ivan Arnold. They both contacted him and after meeting, they became partners and then went on to form the tokidoki business.
In June 2009 it was announced that Simone Legno would release a line of young punk rock inspired characters that would sell at the American based retailer target.
Once they started the tokidoki business, an innovative line of apparel, handbags, cosmetics, accessories and more, tokidoki was built a worldwide following with its very own characters and designs. The brand has fuelled a highprofile collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld, LeSportsac, Onitsuka Tiger, Marvel, New Era, Hello Kitty, Fujitsu, Levi's, Smashbox cosmetics, Xbox, T-mobile, Fornarina, Skullcandy and Medicom Toy. This is what got the company going.
Tokidoki distributes its products to Nordstrom, Macys, Fred Segal, Metropark, Karmaloop and approximately 1000 boutiques in more than 60 countries worldwide. The tokidoki official retail stores can be found in Los Angeles, New York and Milan.
Over the years the company has become so big and well known that each July hundreds of thousands of fans, artists, celebrities, superheroes, Jedi, goblins and geeks and descend upon downtown San Diego at the world’s largest pop arts convention.
I like Simone Legno because he has created such unique designs and now made 1000s of productcs which can now be part of everyday life. I would see his products and designs everywhere but have only realised that it is all his work.
